The quiet and smart Lin Xiangzhi (Angel Zhao) who always keeps to herself catches the eye of classmate Xu Youshu (Lin Yi). 1 Person:- I started this film with the conception of it being a romcom. It was not…I liked the school youth portrayal of this movie and the pressures of exams (all the usual high school troubles). But I didn’t like the girl who pretended to have memory loss’s character plot. Was very messy, and perhaps it was intentional, but even after she explained her story not much has changed. I wonder if there was foreshadowing of Lin Yi’s character being the memory loss one. I think it could have been the juice boxes (how the guy gave the girl orange juice and when the guy was hospitalized, the girl gave the guy a bag of oranges…also symbolizing the develop of their relationship).
jaye:- The last thing I saw Shen Yue in she was dating Jerry Yan, who is older than I am, and now she's a high school student again wtf China.
Anyway it's fine. Honestly a lot of it vibed with the melodramatic Japanese & Korean school days BLs I've been watching, except for the PTSD goldfish. & I just found out it's like a seventh gen remake so maybe I'll investigate the Japanese live action next, see if it makes more sense. Or at least see if the background GL vibes were all in my head or what.
